Job Description:

The City of New York – Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) is seeking a System Engineer to support the infrastructure and lifecycle of applications that enhance the digital experience for New Yorkers, particularly for child care access. The System Engineer will work closely with OTI’s Office of Data Analytics (ODA) and the Mayor’s Innovation Team, ensuring smooth operations across multiple systems and platforms.

Specialty Areas:

System Administration & Infrastructure Support – Maintaining Linux/Windows environments, iPlanet, WebLogic, IBM MDM, and cloud infrastructure.

Cloud & DevOps Expertise – AWS/Azure cloud technologies, configuration management using Shell, Maven, and Ant scripts.

Database & Data Integration – Writing SQL, optimizing data pipelines, integrating and consolidating data repositories.

Application Support & Coordination – Collaborating with development teams, handling deployments, testing support, and incident resolution.

Security & SSO – Experience configuring SiteMinder SSO with iPlanet/WebLogic servers.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain cloud-based and on-premise Linux/Windows servers.

• Design and develop optimal and scalable data pipeline architecture.

• Collaborate with development teams for production input and application builds.

• Coordinate break/fix execution in production and non-production environments.

• Ensure vendor/internal deliverables match infrastructure and technical specifications.

• Monitor server performance during testing and deployment phases.

• Create and maintain accurate technical and system documentation.

• Investigate and resolve technical issues by coordinating with OTI and vendors.

• Support the development and improvement of the digital Hub infrastructure.
