Job summary

GS2 | B Corp™ is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join its Operations Engineering team in Texas. You will provide technical support for transmission and substation assets, standby for system operators, lead RCA investigations, and shape reliability programs and operational models to keep the ERCOT network running.

The role blends operations and engineering, with ownership of equipment reliability and cross-functional collaboration with ERCOT and neighboring utilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' experience in transmission system operations.
• High-voltage substation equipment experience with strong troubleshooting and RCA skills.
• Familiarity with ERCOT nodal protocols and operating guides (SOTE/NOMCR experience preferred).
• Experience with power system modelling software such as PSS/E.
• Texas PE license preferred.
• Experience with synchronous condensers or large rotating equipment, power transformers, circuit breakers, protection and control systems, or SCADA is a plus.
• Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical shift support to system operators and field staff during real-time events and emergencies.
• Develop equipment maintenance strategies, reliability programs, and asset health assessments.
• Lead equipment failure investigations and root cause analyses, and support outages and restoration.
• Model system outage requirements, update operational models, and develop standard operating procedures.
• Act as technical link between operations and engineering/planning; represent the company in ERCOT groups and market reviews.
• Support commissioning and energization of new facilities; review project designs from an operational perspective.
• Make quarterly field visits to the Big Spring, TX substation site.
