Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) in Jackson, MS is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer to provide expert technical support and solutions for protection schemes.

You will teach customers, design models, and analyze relay responses to faults to help ensure the safety and reliability of power grids. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred), 1+ year of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel up

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (master's preferred).
• 1+ year of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems with emphasis on protection, control, and operations.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to apply new technologies or solutions to their power systems.
• Design models/demonstrations of new technologies or solutions to teach customers.
• Support SEL products and solution troubleshooting to identify root cause.
• Analyze responses of protective relays to faults in power systems.
• Teach customers how to use SEL products and how protection relays protect equipment.
• Contribute to and review white papers, application guides, and technical papers.
