Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer to deliver expert technical support and solutions for power system protection schemes.

You will teach, advise, and support customers to ensure reliable and safe grids, with daily duties including guiding on new technologies, designing demonstrations, assisting with protection product questions, and collaborating with colleagues.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Relevant work experience and knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems with an emphasis on protection, control, and operations.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and others within the team.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
• The ability to travel 25%.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to customers on applying new technologies or solutions to their power system.
• Design demonstrations of new technology or solutions for customers.
• Support protection product questions and troubleshooting to reach root cause.
• Analyze responses of protective relays to faults.
• Teach customers how to use SEL products and relays protection systems.
• Contribute to white papers, application guides, and industry journals.
• Provide product feedback to R&D to improve features.
• Collaborate with engineers to share knowledge and improve processes.
