Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Utility Field Technician to collect data on overhead power-distribution infrastructure across Central and Southern Alabama, with primary work in Birmingham, AL. This field-based role requires outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, and variable terrain, willingness to travel, and the ability to work independently.

You will conduct field surveys of poles, lines, transformers, and attachments, record conditions and measurements, and use maps, GIS-based apps to document

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round.
• Ability to read maps and follow routes.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass background, drug, and driving checks.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document poles and related infrastructure.
• Use maps and GIS-based apps to locate facilities and document data.
• Upload photographs, measurements, and field notes.
• Plan daily routes and manage assigned work areas.
• Coordinate with project teams on field conditions.
• Follow safety requirements and other duties as assigned.
