Job summary

Sigma Technologies in Longview, TX seeks a Utility Field Technician to collect field data on overhead power-distribution infrastructure across East Texas. You will drive, walk terrain, photograph, measure, and document poles, lines, transformers, and attachments using maps and GIS tools.

This outdoor, field-based role requires independence, attention to detail, and the ability to plan daily routes. A reliable vehicle and valid license are needed; background checks may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in utilities, power distribution, telecommunications, construction, surveying, GIS, or field data collection preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail for documenting field conditions.
• Comfort using mobile devices, maps, and data-collection apps.
• Ability to read maps, follow routes, and navigate rural/unf familiar locations.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable transportation with valid license and insurance.
• Ability to pass background, drug, and driving-record checks.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document poles, power lines, transformers, attachments, and related infrastructure.
• Record conditions, equipment information, clearances, and field conditions.
• Use maps, GIS-based tools, and mobile data-collection apps to locate facilities and document information.
• Upload photographs, measurements, field notes, and project data.
• Plan daily routes and manage assigned work within the field area.
• Communicate field conditions to project management and design teams.
• Follow company safety requirements and other duties as assigned.
