Job summary

AltaGas’s Blythe Energy facility in Blythe, CA, seeks a Production Technician to maintain high plant efficiency and safety. You will operate a natural gas combined cycle power plant, issue work permits, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include interpreting manuals and P&IDs, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting emergency response plans. Prior experience in a control room and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Advancement to Production Technician Leader based on vacancy/job posting.
• Knowledgeable in the operations of a natural gas combined cycle power plant
• Minimum 1 year combined cycle power plant control room operator experience
• High School/ GED
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to work required overtime.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have an excellent understanding of managing plant economics with regard to power consumption and stream processing priorities.
• Must be able to identify work priorities, meet deadlines, and function with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

• Issue work permits after assessing safety and equipment readiness.
• Read and interpret operating manuals and P&IDs; update procedures when needed.
• Support Maximo duties including preventive maintenance and weekly checks.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to keep facility sound through inspections and trends.
• Respond quickly to deviations to maintain safe operating conditions and productivity.
• Follow safety and environmental policies and Blythe Energy procedures.
• Oversee training programs and help improve plant efficiency and safety.
• Provide on-the-job training to junior operators per Training & Progression plan.
