Job summary

Xcel Energy seeks engineering interns to join the Performance Optimization Organization in the Reliability Engineering department at the Sherco Generating Plant in Becker, MN. The paid internship offers hands-on experience supporting power plant operation, maintenance, and small project development while growing your engineering skills.

Interns will contribute to performance analysis, emissions control, equipment specification, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program enrollment required.
• Interest in power generation and project management.
• Willingness to work full-time in summer and part-time during school year.

Responsibilities

• Support plant projects, capital and ops/maintenance.
• Perform performance/efficiency analysis.
• Assist emissions control efforts and project management.
• Specify equipment and propose process improvements.
• Support technical requests from operations and maintenance.
