Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minneapolis is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Performance Optimization Organization within Reliability Engineering at the Riverside Generating Plant. The internship offers hands-on experience in plant projects, analysis, and equipment improvements.

You must be a current student pursuing an ABET-accredited engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical) and able to work full-time this summer, commuting to the site per the hybrid policy.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in ABET-accredited college or university pursuing engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical)
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and commute to the designated work location per hybrid policy
• Completed coursework in power generation or project management (preferred)
• Interest in power industry and ability to write technical reports

Responsibilities

• Support plant projects (capital and ops/maintenance) with Engineering staff
• Performance and efficiency analysis
• Emissions control
• Contract and project management
• Specifying new and replacement equipment
• Making process improvement recommendations
• Support technical requests from operations and maintenance
