Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Power Plant Operator to provide operations support for plant equipment, take readings, and ensure data accuracy under supervision. The role requires monitoring and interpretation of meters, and adherence to safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, three years of plant experience, and a valid driver’s license, with the possibility to participate in the operator training program and progression to control room duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years' experience in a power plant environment, oilfield, or equivalent education/industrial experience.
• Valid state driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and monitor power plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.
• Record data and monitor readings from meters and gauges; troubleshoot operational problems.
• Follow safety guidelines and participate in initial qualification and training programs.
• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping of the work area.
• Be prepared to work 12-hour rotating shifts and respond to emergency callouts 24/7.
