Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Plant Operator to support power plant operations with accurate data sets and readings. You will monitor equipment, interpret meter readings, and troubleshoot operations under supervision in a safe environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with at least three years of plant experience, and may lead to Operator training including Control Room qualifications. Ability to work rotating shifts, in various temperatures, is essential.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of physics, mathematics, electrical theory and thermodynamics.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work in hazardous environments.
• Ability to perform flow, pressure and meter calculations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and monitor power plant equipment safely and reliably.
• Record data and maintain shift logs from meters, gauges and instruments.
• Respond to equipment issues and troubleshoot operational problems.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of work areas.
• Be prepared to work 12-hour rotating shifts and to respond to emergencies.
