Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee safe, reliable, and economical generation of steam and electricity. You will lead a 24/7 rotating team, establish performance standards, and implement procedures to improve plant operations.

The role requires strong leadership, supervisory experience, and compliance with regulatory permits. You will manage work planning, safety programs, and incident response while coordinating with engineering and operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in an operating area OR
• Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in an operating area
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Engineering or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Direct all activities related to safe, reliable, efficient and economical generation of steam and electricity for a 24/7 rotating staff
• Ensure safe work practices and environmental protection per Company policy and regulations
• Adhere to Steam Operations Standards and provide leadership for daily station management
• Manage work planning, procedures and training to maintain plant and equipment
• Oversee compliance with regulatory permits (FDNY, DEC, DEP, PSC, USCG, NERC, FERC)
• Act as Incident Commander during emergencies and supervise incident response
• Communicate procedural changes and engineering plans to supervisors for proper operation and restoration of equipment
• Maintain timely reporting of plant status, derates, maintenance and outages
• Develop and update operating procedures with Shift Supervisors and ensure adherence
• Lead interviews and placement for new/transferring personnel; address labor issues
• Coordinate training/licensing of employees and ensure regulatory compliance
• Promote a culture of Zero Accident, Operational Excellence and customer service
• Perform other related tasks as required
