Job summary

Oglethorpe Power Corporation seeks an experienced operations leader to oversee day-to-day 500-MW gas-fired plant performance, safety, and reliability. You will supervise staff, coordinate maintenance and training, and ensure adherence to corporate policies and regulatory standards.

The role requires a minimum of ten years in power plant operations with supervisory experience, along with a technical degree or equivalent, and willingness to work on-call and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible experience operating power plants (nuclear, coal, or gas-fired) with supervisory responsibilities.
• BS degree or equivalent experience plus six years supervisory experience in thermal power operations.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, on-call, overtime, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations including scheduling, manpower utilization, and QA/QC across plant staff.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation.
• Lead and coordinate training programs to develop operations staff and support an operational excellence program.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve plant issues to ensure safe operation and reliability.
• Provide semi-annual performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.
• Ensure compliance programs (OSHA, EPA, DOE, NERC/SERC, etc.) and internal policies are followed.
