Job summary

AEP in Kenova, WV is seeking an O&M Plant Technician to monitor and inspect plant equipment, operate controls, and perform maintenance across turbines, HRSGs, boilers, pumps and auxiliaries. You will assist with electrical, instrumentation and control systems, analyze data, and communicate safety and environmental compliance during start-up and normal operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a two-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, Industrial Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• 12 to 18 months of power plant experience in operations, maintenance, electrical, instrumentation and controls in gas turbine/HRSG systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to coordinate with peers, contractors and management.
• Basic knowledge of heat balance, safety practices and operating procedures for start-up, operation and shutdown.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect plant equipment including turbines, generators, HRSGs, boilers and transformers.
• Operate local controls and remote devices; respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance, prepare data logs and assist with repairs of electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot control systems with electrical, electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Use test equipment to calibrate instruments and verify system performance.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
