American Electric Power in Kenova, WV, seeks a plant technician to monitor and inspect gas/steam turbines, HRSGs, transformers, pumps, condensers and related equipment. Operate local controls, assist with chemical analyses, and support electrical and control systems for safe plant operation.

The role requires a two-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, or equivalent experience, with 12–18 months of power plant operations and maintenance

Qualifications

• Must have completed a two-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies or equivalent experience/education.
• Strong knowledge of heat balance systems and effects of unbalances on operating efficiency.
• Ability to direct and coordinate work of employees and contractors.

Responsabilités

• Demonstrate ethical behavior and leadership in safe work practices and environmental stewardship.
• Operate and monitor turbines, generators, condensers, HRSGs, pumps, transformers, and switchyard from local/remote locations.
• Monitor alarms, interpret logbooks, and take corrective actions during abnormal conditions.
• Maintain boiler water chemistry and plant cycle chemistry; operate water treatment systems and QA/QC compliant analyzers.
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and instrumentation controls; use test equipment to calibrate plant equipment.
• Operate hoists, forklifts, cranes, lifts, and related equipment per policy; assist with mechanical maintenance and minor welds.
