Overview:

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Power Plant Mechanic.

Position Details:
  • Position Status: Full-time
  • Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia
Position Summary:

The Power Plant Mechanic is experienced in all phases of steam maintenance, including boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring power plant equipment, reading and interpreting control circuits, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper operation. This individual tests, maintains, and repairs power plant equipment, and supervises contractor work to ensure quality and compliance with codes.

Additional Details:

This position is classified as Mission Essential Personnel and works on a rotating schedule, primarily during the 3rd shift (11 PM - 7 AM). Holidays and weekends are required as scheduled.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Refrigerant Recovery Certification Type II or Universal certification
  • Refrigerant Recovery Certification Type III
  • Driver's License
  • Backflow Prevention Device tester's license (required in most facilities)
  • High School diploma or Trade School certification
