Dominion Energy is offering a part-time opportunity at the Urquhart Station for someone pursuing an associate degree while gaining hands-on experience with power generation mechanical and electrical plant components.

15 to 20 hours per week, schedule varies with class, and the role focuses on maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical/instrumentation systems, PLCs, VFDs, motor control, and DCS in a real energy plant environment.

Qualifications

• Industrial Maintenance/Operations or related mechanical degree
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems associated with power generation equipment.
• Supporting work on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor control systems, smart field devices, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Working alongside experienced Maintenance Journeymen to learn and apply power plant maintenance practices.
• Utilizing technical drawings, blueprints, CAD systems, and other engineering documentation.
• Assisting Maintenance personnel in understanding the operation, maintenance, and reliability of power plant equipment.
• Performing work in an industrial environment that may involve climbing, bending, lifting heavy equipment, and standing for extended periods.
• Working both indoors and outdoors, including during adverse weather conditions.
• Working in areas near water, including docks, boats, and barges, when required.
