Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Machinist/Mechanic to keep our power plant running safely and reliably.

You will troubleshoot and repair critical equipment, perform precision machining, welding, and mechanical repairs, and read industry blueprints to guide maintenance tasks. The role requires a solid background in heavy industrial mechanical repair, plus the ability to pass pre-employment testing and work at heights.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED.
• Five years of heavy industrial mechanical repair experience, including two years of machinist duties.
• Ability to pass applicable pre-employment and machinist testing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, and the ability to work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain turbines, pumps, compressors, generators, valves, piping, and other critical plant equipment.
• Perform precision machining, welding, rigging, and mechanical repairs to support reliable power generation.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
