Job summary

NRG Energy, Inc. in Deer Park, TX seeks an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician to install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant instrumentation and control systems ensuring safe, reliable operation of the power generation facility.

Work includes field devices, pressure/temperature/flow instrumentation, DCS, and GE Mark VIe systems; involved in outages, commissioning, and coordination with operations and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of experience in power generation or industrial instrumentation/controls.
• Experience reading P&IDs, loop sheets, schematics, and control wiring diagrams.
• Ability to work overtime, callouts, weekends, and outage schedules.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain before start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot plant instrumentation, control systems, and field devices.
• Calibrate and repair instrumentation; maintain valves, actuators, and pneumatic systems.
• Support DCS and operator interfaces, CEMS, flame scanners, and turbine controls.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics.
• Prepare and execute LOTO packages; assist startups, outages and commissioning.
• Maintain calibration records and coordinate with operations, contractors, and vendors.
