Job summary

Southern Company’s Plant McIntosh Combined Cycle in Rincon, GA is seeking an Instrument & Controls Technician to support control systems and associated equipment. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and repair instrumentation to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent military training, knowledge of GE Mark VIe and Emerson Ovation DCS, and experience with CMMS like MAXIMO. Work includes 24/7 support, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent military training.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial control equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, loop drawings, and technical docs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate, and repair plant control systems (GE Mark VIe, Emerson Ovation).
• Inspect and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic control circuits.
• Calibrate transmitters, sensors, flow meters, and valves for accurate monitoring.
• Use MAXIMO to manage work orders, maintenance records, and inventory.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to improve plant performance.
• Participate in outage activities, safety, and regulatory compliance.
