Job summary

Calpine seeks a journey-level technician to maintain and repair plant electrical and control systems, focusing on DCS, turbines, and switchgear. You will calibrate instruments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure logs and procedures are kept up to date.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in instrument/electrical roles, DCS experience, and familiarity with Mark VI or Emerson Ovation systems. Must uphold safety standards and may train junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or vocational equivalent required.
• 2–5 years’ journey-level experience in instrument/electrical and control systems.
• Preferred Mark VI and Emerson Ovation system experience.
• Strong mechanical, math and physics knowledge.
• Experience with DCS programming and configuration; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical equipment and instrumentation in the plant.
• Monitor, maintain and repair DCS, gas/steam turbine control systems, generators and switchgear.
• Calibrate and repair plant electrical/control systems; perform routine troubleshooting.
• Update and maintain logs, manuals and procedures; provide control system condition reports.
• Follow safety policies and help identify and manage risks in work activities.
• Prioritize daily tasks and assist with training staff as needed.
