Job summary

Vistra Energy is seeking an I&E Technician for a combined cycle power plant. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting instrumentation and electrical systems, with emphasis on control systems such as Honeywell Experion, Siemens T3000, and Allen-Bradley equipment.

You will read diagrams, process data, and support plant operators while adhering to safety policies and using Maximo for work orders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of trade or technical school with training in the fundamentals of The Power Plant Cycle.
• Six years experience in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of instrument and electrical (I&E) systems, and equipment in a power plant or similar industrial setting.
• Demonstrated ability in reading process & instrumentation diagrams, electrical one-line diagrams and logic diagrams, and use of test equipment through a practical exam.
• Complete accredited courses in (or possess a certificate of equivalent training earning CEUs): Basic College Math/Algebra Basic Electricity Basic Electronics.
• Complete the Hiring Process (including background check and drug screening).
• Complete the Progression Program within required intervals.
• Obtain RI Crane Operators license.
• Experience with High Voltage Test Equipment.
• Obtain a RI Journeyman Electrician license within 5 years.
• Obtain ISA Level I Certified Control System Specialist certification within 5 years.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all I&E equipment from routine maintenance to complex I&E troubleshooting at a combined cycle power plant.
• Assist and advise Management and Plant Operators on all instrumentation and electrical equipment and systems.
• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including readings, inspections and checks, lubrication, cleanings, and filter changes.
• Analyze equipment performance by processing test data, using schematic drawings, diagrams and reviewing equipment manuals.
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all control systems at station (Honeywell Experion, Siemens T3000, Honeywell TDC3000, Allen Bradley).
• Use hand tools, power tools, test and calibration equipment for maintenance activities; rigging, staging, overhead crane and forklift operation.
• Utilize Maximo maintenance management system by performing work orders and entering data.
• Observe and coordinate with third-party contractors; maintain shop records and OEM manuals.
• Handle hazardous materials and waste products; participate in safety meetings and programs.
