Job summary

Sprague Resources is seeking a Control Room Operator (CRO) in Springfield, NH. The CRO serves as shift lead, operating and monitoring the power plant to ensure safe, efficient performance.

Role requires strong safety awareness, clear communication, and the ability to operate PLC-based controls and older analog systems. The position follows a modified DuPont 12-hour shift schedule (36 hours one week, 48 hours the next).

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Power plant operations or maintenance experience required.
• Basic computer/data-entry skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Good verbal communication skills essential.
• Cooperative, able to work without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of safety practices in plant operation.

Responsibilities

• Start up, operate, shut down and secure equipment from the control room or in the field.
• Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
• Adhere to lock out-tagout, de-energization and safety procedures.
• Complete plant rounds and inspect equipment for malfunctions or failures.
• Maintain logs and records of operating conditions and irregularities.
• Monitor water chemistry and dosing within safety limits; repair and calibrate equipment as needed.
• Identify hazardous conditions and take corrective action.
• Understand process controls and respond to variances to ensure safe operation.
• Oversee routine maintenance of ash removal, boiler and fuel systems, valves and pumps.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures for safe operation.
• Assist with scheduled or forced outage maintenance work.
• Supervise or assist contractors on site.
