Job summary

Sprague is hiring a Control Room Operator for the Westminster, MA biomass plant. The CRO leads daily plant operations, monitors process variables and coordinates with maintenance and management to ensure safe, reliable power generation.

The role requires a MA 2nd Class Engineer License, a valid driver’s license and prior power plant ops/maintenance experience. It features a 3/12 schedule with overtime obligations and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer License is required.
• Power plant operations and/or maintenance experience is required.
• Good verbal communication and teamwork are essential.
• Basic computer and data entry skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Start‑up, operate, shut down and secure equipment from the control room or in the field.
• Troubleshoot and assist maintenance activities as needed.
• Understand lockout/tagout procedures and safety rules.
• Maintain logs and record operating conditions.
• Monitor process variables and respond to variances.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant components.
