Job summary

Prairie State Energy Campus in Illinois is seeking a Chemical Engineer to manage chemical systems across the coal-fired power plant, including ammonia, boiler chemistry, absorber chemistry, fuel chemistry, and flue gas chemistry. The role involves coordinating repairs and supporting system engineers while working with the Environmental department on permitting and emissions testing.

The position requires hands-on outage participation, cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Maintenance,

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college.
• 5 years’ experience in water chemistry preferred.
• Knowledge of water treatment, pH control, process flow & mass balance, and testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with vendors to optimize chemical injection rates.
• Coordinate all maintenance and repair projects to maintain reliability and capacity.
• Lead RCFA/FMEA processes for the listed systems to ensure timely corrective actions.
• Develop and/or review Preventative Maintenance aligned with RC/MRC expectations.
• Provide training to Maintenance and Plant Operations personnel in reliable, safe maintenance practices.
• Maintain equipment inspections, testing, and history records.
