Job summary

Prairie State Energy Campus seeks a Power Plant Chemical Engineer to oversee chemical systems such as ammonia, boiler cycle chemistry, absorber and fuel chemistry. You will coordinate maintenance, outages, and projects, and provide engineering support to mechanical and electrical system engineers while coordinating with environmental for permits and emissions testing.

The role requires 12+ hour shifts during outages, collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors, and a strong focus

Responsibilities

• Within the first year of employment, complete 10 weeks of training shadowing an operations shift.
• Coordinate with vendors to optimize chemical injection rates to increase plant reliability while managing cost.
• Coordinate all maintenance and repair projects for both scheduled and unscheduled work as necessary.
• Financial responsibility for the outage budget pertaining to the systems listed above.
• Lead or participate in RCFA and FMEA processes for the listed systems to ensure timely corrective actions.
• Develop and review Preventative Maintenance activities to align with RCM philosophy.
• Provide project and critical path management for plant outages and contractor oversight.
• Train Maintenance and Plant Operations Personnel in reliable, safe methods for maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintain all equipment inspections, testing, and history records; assist with improvement projects.
