Job summary

Covanta in Dickerson, MD is seeking an Auxiliary Operator to support the facility's control room operations. You will safely operate and inspect power plant systems, including boilers and pollution control equipment, to ensure efficient, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience operating heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect power plant systems per safety procedures.
• Monitor boilers, air pollution control, ash systems, and other heavy equipment.
• Read data from meters, gauges, and instruments to identify trends.
• Perform sampling and water treatment as required.
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment (cranes, loaders, forklifts).
• Maintain correct refuse-fuel levels and mix in designated pits.
• Perform additional duties to ensure safe and efficient operations.
