Selby Jennings is seeking a Production Cost Modeling Analyst to join a growing power trading and analytics team in Houston. You will develop, maintain, and enhance production cost models to support commercial strategy, trading, asset optimization, and market analysis across North American power markets.

The role requires 4+ years in power markets and hands-on experience with models like Aurora, PLEXOS, PROMOD, or Enverus, with strong Python/SQL/Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in power markets, production cost modeling, market analytics, or related areas.
• Strong programming in Python, SQL and Excel for data-driven modeling.
• Hands-on experience with production cost modeling tools such as Aurora, PLEXOS, PROMOD, Enverus or similar.
• Solid understanding of power market fundamentals, dispatch, congestion and capacity markets.
• Ability to communicate complex analytics to traders and commercial teams.
• Knowledge of ERCOT or other North American power markets is highly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Build, maintain, and improve production cost models for North American power markets.
• Develop short-, medium-, and long-term power market forecasts (energy, congestion, emissions, ancillary services).
• Analyze generation fleet economics, dispatch, fuel markets, transmission constraints, and renewables impact.
• Support traders with market intelligence, scenario analyses, and market assessments.
• Conduct fundamental analysis of supply, demand, weather, prices, infrastructure, and regulation.
• Create market outlooks and presentations for internal teams.
• Work with large datasets to enhance model accuracy and uncover opportunities.
• Collaborate with quantitative and tech teams to automate workflows.
