Job summary

Rivian is seeking a mechanically inclined power electronics engineering intern to support production ramp-up for the R2 vehicle. You must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and 2029, and be available for a full-time spring term onsite (40 hours per week).

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an accredited bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD.
  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Experience with DC traction inverters, DC-DC converters, or high voltage systems.
  • Able to read GD&T mechanical drawings.
  • Familiar with root-cause quality methods (8D, fishbone, 5-Why).
  • Basic reading of electrical schematics.
  • Proficient with tools for mechanical teardowns.
  • Experience using AI tools for dashboards.
  • CATIA or 3D CAD knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tester log analysis to troubleshoot electrical end of line failures on production lines.
  • Develop efficiency dashboards using AI tools to track issues and downtime trends.
  • Support teardown and inspection of assemblies to determine root cause of failures.
  • Assist flashing of printed circuit boards using in-house test equipment.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to leverage lessons learned for future lines.
