Job summary

Rivian is seeking an engineering intern to support the ramp-up of the R2 vehicle's power electronics production. The role requires active student enrollment in an accredited program, with a focus on mechanical engineering and power electronics.

You will analyze tester logs, develop AI-powered dashboards, and assist with teardown and debugging on the production line. The internship runs Spring 2027, requires on-site availability, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in an accredited program (bachelors, masters, or PhD).
  • Active enrollment in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • Familiar with power electronics components such as DC traction inverters, DC-DC converters, AC-DC onboard charger, or HV power distribution systems.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings (GD&T) to check tolerances.
  • Familiar with methods to solve quality issues (8D, fishbone, 5-whys).
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Handy with tools for mechanical teardowns.
  • Experience with AI tools for production dashboards.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD systems like CATIA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tester log analysis to troubleshoot electrical end-of-line failures on production lines.
  • Develop efficiency dashboards using AI tools to track issues and downtime trends on assembly lines.
  • Support teardown and inspection of assemblies to determine root causes of failures.
  • Assist with flashing printed circuit boards using in-house test equipment.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to apply lessons learned to future production lines.
