Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design and bring electrical power distribution products from concept through production release. You will create electrical and mechanical designs using CAD tools and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure manufacturability and scalable solutions.

The role requires a 5+ year track record in product design or new product development, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and experience with CAD software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in product design, product engineering, or new product development.
• Experience with CAD systems and engineering documentation.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing principles.
• Ability to manage technical projects from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new electrical power distribution products from concept through production release.
• Create electrical and mechanical product designs using CAD and engineering design tools.
• Develop standard product architectures, reusable design platforms, and configurable product structures.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, bills of material, and product specifications.
• Drive product cost reduction, manufacturability, reliability, and scalability improvements.
• Coordinate testing and certification activities with UL and other agencies.
• Develop documentation required for product approvals and certifications.
• Support compliance with applicable UL, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and customer requirements.
• Participate in validation testing and design verification activities.
• Work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for production.
• Support prototype builds, pilot builds, and new product introductions.
• Collaborate on automation, tooling, and process improvements.
• Provide technical support during product launch activities.
