Job summary

Global Power Components, Milwaukee-based manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks and enclosures, seeks an Engineering Manager for New Product Development/R&D. You will lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers from concept through launch, ensuring designs are innovative, cost-effective and manufacturable.

The role requires 7+ years in mechanical design with leadership experience, strong SolidWorks/PDM skills, and a track record of successful NPD programs in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of mechanical design or product development experience, incl. 3+ years in leadership.
• Proven experience leading New Product Development programs from concept through commercialization.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and design documentation.
• Experience with sheet metal, enclosures, weldments, and industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with DFM, DFA, and cost-optimization principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Design Engineers for NPD.
• Drive end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to production launch.
• Set project priorities, resources, and schedules to meet business goals.
• Collaborate with customers, sales, product management, operations, and manufacturing.
• Oversee mechanical design activities including SolidWorks modeling and validation.
• Guide cross-functional teams through milestones, risk assessments, and deliverables.
• Ensure designs meet performance, quality, regulatory, reliability, cost targets.
• Drive DFM, DFA, and cost initiatives throughout development.
• Lead product innovation and automation opportunities.
• Promote engineering best practices and stage-gate development processes.
