ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. These roles involve providing make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, experienced staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can be remote, but new hires must attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER:

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, adhering to quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional partners to solve design problems.
• Handle Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with external parties to obtain approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other software.
• Perform quality control on team members’ work when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred but not mandatory. Management may consider alternative qualifications.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design is required; 2+ years preferred. Management may consider alternative combinations of education and experience.

Personal: Valid driver’s license, insurance, willingness to undergo background checks, drug testing, and to work in the U.S. Must be willing to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel).

Technical Skills: Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design software; knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning; ability to learn proprietary software.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged computer use (keyboard, monitor, phone)
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view a computer screen (vision requirements)
• Effective communication skills
• Work hours: M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM Eastern Time (adjusted for local time zones)
