Note: While we list our Designer openings in multiple locations, you only need to apply to one as they are remote. This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to come to our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH for an initial 2-week in-person paid training period.

About this Opportunity

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, already-skilled staff to join our program teams.

Responsibilities:

• Execute work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and/or general distribution design, applying established guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional teams to solve problems encountered during the design process.
• Perform Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Utilize design programs like AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on others’ work when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Management may consider other education combinations.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design required; 2+ years preferred. Management may consider other education and experience combinations.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and willingness to undergo background checks, drug tests, and driving record checks.
• Willing to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design programs required.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures, with ability to learn proprietary software.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged use of computer equipment.
• Ability to perform activities like data analysis, note transcription, and viewing a computer screen.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern Time.
