Job summary

HDR Engineering seeks a Power Delivery Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Transmission Line and Substation teams. You will lead, review, and execute structural design for high voltage projects up to 500kV, coordinating with PMs and teams across locations.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop best practices, and contribute to technical papers or presentations for industry events as HDR values world-class quality and employee ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• PE or P.Eng license or ability to obtain.
• Prior structural engineer experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar.
• Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead/oversee/execute structural engineering tasks for transmission line and substation members, including foundation design and steel structures.
• Perform foundation design tasks (drilled piers, spread footings, grillage, piles) using standard software.
• Support/lead transmission line design tasks (PLS-CADD) and substation layouts as needed.
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and factory testing.
• Mentor project engineers, coordinate QA per HDR QMS, review deliverables.
