Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team. You will lead structural design for high voltage substation projects up to 500 kV, coordinating with PMs and other engineers across multiple offices.

You will oversee foundation design, steel framing, and detailing, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring HDR QMS compliance. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least 10 years in structural engineering related to building design.
• Professional engineer license (PE) recognized by local board; SE license considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, oversee, review, and execute structural engineering tasks for substation structures.
• Design foundations for substation structures (drilled piers, spread footings, piles).
• Support physical substation layout designs and material bills.
• Prepare and review construction specifications and materials.
• Coordinate with project teams and provide technical guidance.
• Perform quality checks per HDR QMS and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with other engineers to develop and maintain standards.
• Travel as needed.
