Job summary

Northern Star Resources Ltd. at the Pogo operation in Alaska is seeking an Underground Miner - Powder Crew to safely prepare and load explosives and support underground development.

The role reports to the Underground Shift Supervisor and focuses on precise loading of charges and related duties. You will work a 3 week on, 3 weeks off rotating schedule in a remote camp, with onsite facilities and opportunities for growth within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Three years of underground mining experience.
• ATF clearance required.
• Experience with production and high-speed development powder.
• Experience with ANFO, Emulsion and IKON detonators.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Leadership/training ability preferred (not essential).
• Must pass post-offer physical, drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently load explosives and maintain loading equipment.
• Perform mining tasks related to Powder Crew and support underground development.
• Install services, ventilation and underground infrastructure as required.
• Monitor and control paste pours, hang ventilation fans and install cable bolts.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping and on-radio communication in line with MSHA rules.
