Job summary

Northern Star Pogo LLC in Delta Junction, AK, is seeking an Underground Miner - Powder Crew to safely load explosives and perform mining tasks on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off camp schedule. You will work with development, production headings, ventilation, and safety compliance under MSHA rules.

Requirements include minimum three years underground mining experience, ATF clearance, and experience with ANFO, Emulsion and IKON detonators. Strong English and basic computer literacy are expected.

• : MUST have ATF clearance.
• : Must have experience in both production and high-speed development powder.
• : Experience in ANFO, Emulsion and IKON detonators.
• : Basic mechanical knowledge.
• : Good communication skills, including ability to read and speak English.
• : Basic computer literacy.
• : Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• : Ability to provide leadership and training to new team members (not essential).
• : Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• The Underground Miner - Powder Crew reports to the Underground Shift Supervisor and safely & efficiently prepare and load explosives and maintain loading equipment.
• Perform various mining tasks related to Powder Crew including Haul Truck, Nipper, Mucking, Rockpick.
• Installation of services and ventilation to development and production headings.
• Installation of underground infrastructure such as paste walls, pipe and vent measures.
• Hanging secondary ventilation fans and paste filling pre-starts.
• Cable bolts installation and paste pours monitoring.
• Pipe fabrication and mine dewatering monitoring.
• General laboring and housekeeping; ensure tools and equipment are safe.
• Communicate clearly on two-way radio and adhere to MSHA safety policies.
• Assist with fault finding, preventative maintenance, site safety checks, and incident reporting.
