Job summary

Aviagen is seeking a Poultry Specialist to supervise all aspects of contract farms in Alabama. The role involves resolving grower conflicts, managing bio-security, animal welfare, and health & safety, and assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection.

The candidate should have a BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred), basic computer skills, and be able to work flexible hours including some weekends. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred).
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to calculate feed, manage and weigh birds, prioritize work schedules, solve problems related to growth and performance.
• Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends – on call 24 hours a day.
• Self-motivated, accurate, and efficient work.
• Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Team oriented.
• Current driver’s license.
• Two years of poultry experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervising all aspects of contract farms.
• Resolving contract grower conflicts.
• Managing bio‑security, strain security, animal welfare, and health & safety.
• Assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection.
• May perform other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor.
