A postdoc position is available in Dr. Gahtan's lab at the Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute in the Stritch School of Medicine with a joint appointment with the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loyola University Chicago. The laboratory's research area focuses on mitochondrial signaling in cardiac dysfunction and cardiac autophagy in sepsis using both in vitro and in vivo models. The prospective candidate will have opportunities to work within a highly interactive, multidisciplinary team to do translational research. Preferences will be given to candidates who are good at tasks, have good time management skills, and have strong communication skills.

Previous experience/knowledge in animal experiments is much preferred, and experience in cardiology and mitochondrial physiology research is a plus.

  • In addition, capabilities are expected to efficiently collect/organize/analyze data and initiate new/modified procedures/techniques based upon the latest developments.

  • Preferences will be given to candidates who are good at tasks, have good time management skills, and have strong communication skills.
