Duties and Responsibilities

A postdoc position is available in Dr. Gahtan’s lab at the Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute in the Stritch School of Medicine, with a joint appointment with the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loyola University Chicago. The research focuses on mitochondrial signaling in cardiac dysfunction and autophagy in sepsis, using in vitro and in vivo models. The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to conduct translational research. Preference will be given to candidates with good task management, time management, and communication skills.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
  • M.D. or PhD required
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in biology or biomedical sciences.
  • Skills in cell culture, animal disease models, imaging, western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, DNA/RNA prep, PCR, and real-time PCR are required.
  • Experience with animal experiments and cardiology/mitochondrial research is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and adapt procedures based on latest developments.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
  • Doctoral degree in relevant fields.
  • Relevant laboratory skills as above.
