Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Hydrology, Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, CS, GIS, Earth Science, or related field.
  • Strong quantitative and modeling skills, with experience in one or more of: machine learning/deep learning, process-based environmental modeling, remote sensing and geospatial data analysis.
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python or related scientific computing environments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, process-based modeling, and extreme-event science.
  • Develop and apply advanced modeling approaches to investigate extreme events, such as flooding and wildfires, and assess their impacts on ecosystems, environmental systems, and human communities.
  • Contribute to model development and evaluation, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and presentation of results at scientific conferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams.
