Job description

Overview

Postdoctoral position at the NASA/UTSA Center for Advanced Measurements in Extreme Environments. One-year appointment, extendable to 2 years based on performance. Position available immediately. The UTSA-based work involves collaboration with UTSA, UCLA (Los Angeles), University of Colorado, Boulder, and NASA centers (JPL, GSFC).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research and model development focused on coupled Atmospheric/Ocean/Polar sea ice systems.
  • Develop and apply data analytic tools and integrate models with satellite observations, sensor data, and UAV data.
  • Work with state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities and available field measurements and data.
  • Prepare academic manuscripts describing results.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Geosciences, Atmospheric or Oceanic Sciences, or related areas (preferred).
  • Excellent programming skills; familiarity with large-scale models (Atmosphere, WRF, or ocean models).
  • Knowledge of CFD and Fluid Dynamics; experience with modeling (Atmosphere or Ocean) is required.
  • Python programming; experience with deep learning algorithms is preferred.
Collaboration and Facilities

Collaborators include researchers from UTSA, UCLA, University of Colorado Boulder, and NASA centers (JPL, GSFC). Access to state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities and relevant data.
