The Hatmaker Lab at the University of Georgia is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will use bioinformatic tools to explore intraspecies variation in cross-kingdom pathogens within Aspergillus using genomic and transcriptomic data.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Experience using a high-performance computing cluster.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience working with fungi in a molecular biology setting.
  • Background in bioinformatics and genomics.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute research projects under the guidance of the lab lead.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
  • Prepare and publish manuscripts in leading scientific journals.
  • Contribute to daily lab management and maintenance tasks.
  • Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students.
