Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Genetics, Biology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology or a related field.
  • Molecular diagnostic research experience.
  • Experience working with fungi or other microorganisms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a publication record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop assays for rapid molecular detection of azole-resistant strains of Aspergillus fumigatus.
  • Monitor antifungal resistance of human pathogens in agricultural environments.
  • Present results to the scientific community and for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students in lab techniques; travel to field sites as needed.
