Position Details

Recruitment/Posting Title: Post Doctoral Associate (Zander)

Department: Waksman Institute of Microbiology

Salary: $63,968.00

Posting Summary: The Zander laboratory at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology is looking for an individual to investigate powdery mildew resistance in hemp and optimize a hemp transformation and genome editing platform. The research will involve molecular, genetic and epigenomic techniques to understand the role of transcription factors and epigenome dynamics. The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI).

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Conduct grant‑funded research as directed by the PI. This includes genetic, (epi)genomic, proteomic analyses, publication of findings, preliminary data for grant proposals, and presentation at scientific meetings.
  2. Train and oversee undergraduate researchers. Responsibilities include teaching plant genetics, genomics, recombinant DNA techniques, protein biochemistry, data presentation skills, record keeping, and basic laboratory techniques.
