Pixel Theory is the strategic growth partner for scaled consumer brands. We don't run ads. We run growth, and there's a real difference.
We build the financial models, data infrastructure, and cohort analyses that tell our clients which customers are worth acquiring, what they're worth over time, and what the brand should pay to bring them in. Then we go get them. We run the media buying, the creative, and the post-click experience that drives qualified, scalable new customer growth.
We operate in pods. One Growth Strategist, one Media Buyer, one Creative Strategist, working in lockstep so the data, the buying, and the creative are never disconnected. We're a 20-person team of senior operators. Everyone here is sharp, accountable, and obsessed with doing the work well.

How the agency works
Pixel Theory runs the full funnel for DTC brands. Growth runs paid media, Creative makes the ads, and Post-Click builds the landing pages and runs the site. Retention is the stage after the first order.
- Growth maps. Each client gets a quarterly map built from last quarter's numbers. It sets the targets, the offers in focus, the initiatives and the key dates.
- Monthly revenue growth plans. Each month the map becomes a dated list of activations: funnel tests, site work, retention flows and retention campaigns.
- Funnel tests. An offer, its ads and its landing page are tested together, and the winners scale.
- Financial modelling. Offers are modelled for margin before they run. Each client has a revenue projection we report against.
- Cohort analysis. We track how each month's new customers come back, and what they are worth over time.
Where retention fits
- The growth map's offers, launches and key dates set the campaign calendar.
- The customers each funnel test brings in land in the retention flows, so a winning offer keeps earning after the first order.
- Cohorts show what retention adds. A higher repeat rate raises what a customer is worth, and that raises what Growth can pay to win one.
- Survey answers and reviews feed our customer research, which shapes the next landing page test.
What the role owns
- Retention strategy per brand
- Segments from purchase history and survey answers, the email and SMS flow map, and a campaign calendar built from the growth map.
- The client relationship on retention
- Runs the client calls, presents the plan, reports results and handles the feedback.
- Cohorts and lifetime value
- Reads each brand's cohorts and feeds repeat rate and lifetime value back into the growth map and the financial model.
- Audits
- An email and SMS audit for every new brand covers forms, flows, segments, list health and deliverability. It ranks the top revenue gaps and scopes the work for sales.
- Flows
- Welcome, browse and cart abandonment, post-purchase and winback, plus replenishment or cancellation flows where the product fits. Picks the channel, sets the logic, briefs the designer and checks every build before it goes live.
- Deliverability
- Sending domains, authentication and the Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender rules. SMS consent and opt-out rules. List hygiene, suppression and bounce handling.
- Copy
- Signs off the copy on every send, grounded in each brand's customer research.
- Reporting
- Email and SMS share of store revenue each week, in the update the client already gets. No daily reports.
- Building the team
- Hires the next strategist once we pass capacity.
How we work
Enough to know what you are walking into. The step by step detail lives in the department SOPs.
- You start on three live retention accounts. More brands are lined up from sales.
- Tools: Klaviyo, Figma, Asana, Notion, Slack, Shopify and Claude.
- Work is tracked on a shared board, one card per piece of work. Decisions and comments live on the card.
- Emails are designed in Figma from each brand's UI kit, so they match the site. A person schedules every send.
- Research is already in place for each brand: message mining, reviews and customer surveys.
The standard
- Results are judged on clicks, orders and revenue per recipient.
- Holdout tests prove what email and SMS add.
- Flows tie to repeat purchase rate and lifetime value.
- Campaigns go to engaged segments.
- Sends go out on the planned date, and spam complaints stay under 0.1%.
What stays with others
- The designer designs every email. This seat writes the brief and reviews the work.
- The Director reviews strategy and audits, and owns the shared process and quality standards.
What the role is not
- Not an account manager. The seat owns the strategy as well as the relationship.
- Not a production seat. Most of the build is handled, so the week goes on strategy and clients.
Why join Pixel Theory
- Fully remote. Work from anywhere, with hours that overlap the US.
- Competitive pay , as a full-time salaried role.
- A lead seat from day one. You build the retention department and potentially hire a team under you.
- The whole funnel in one place. Ads, creative, landing pages and retention for the same brands, so you see what your work does to the business.
- Live clients from day one. DTC brands that already trust us with the rest of their funnel.
- AI built into the work. The team uses Claude heavily, and there is time in the week to learn it.
How the role is judged
- Email and SMS share of store revenue rises against each brand's starting point.
- Repeat rate and lifetime value rise in each brand's cohorts.
- Campaigns go out on the planned date, and spam complaints stay under 0.1%.
- The Director no longer runs retention day to day, and the team’s capacity sees a compounding effect with custom tooling and analytics built in.
