Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a field-based Property Field Claims Adjuster for the Portland metro area. You will work with the Property Claim Manager, spend 80% in the field, and travel to offices for meetings and training as needed.

A company fleet vehicle is provided, with potential personal use. Location is within the Portland metro area, with occasional travel to nearby offices for engagement activities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, SIU, other adjusters, etc.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles both 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, assesses damages, and negotiates claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
• Communicates status to all parties and closes files when appropriate.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies them to assigned losses.
• Participates in additional assignments or projects based on skills/experience.
