Job summary

The GitLab Foundation is seeking a Sr. Manager, Portfolio & Fund Operations to lead the Funds team and coordinate end-to-end fund activities across development, impact, operations, grants management, and communications.

Reporting to the CPPO, the role builds capacity, defines processes, and ensures high standards of delivery. Fully remote in the United States, this position oversees portfolio operations, governance, reporting, and partner relationships, driving execution and scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively increased responsibility in operations, program or portfolio management.
• At least 3 years of direct people management experience.
• Experience owning and executing complex projects or workstreams with multiple priorities.
• Experience partnering effectively with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
• Strong operational skills and ability to build and improve systems, processes, workflows, and team practices.
• Experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, fund operations, or portfolio management is preferred.
• Mission- and impact-driven with transparency, integrity, humility, and measurable social impact.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and develop Fund Coordinators, direct reports, and consultants.
• Oversee portfolio operations, timelines, reporting, and partner requirements.
• Establish ownership, accountability, and ensure high-quality delivery of commitments.
• Lead cross-functional rhythms: meetings, stand-ups, retrospectives, planning sessions.
• Monitor performance and capacity, address bottlenecks and resource gaps.
• Partner with Fund Directors to support launch, execution, and ongoing management of funds.
• Coordinate funder and grantee activities, including reporting and communications.
• Serve as operational partner to the CPPO and translate priorities into action.
