Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a Business Analyst to join the Distribution Portfolio and Utility Coordination team in Akron, OH. The role focuses on data-driven evaluation of capital projects, forecasting, and reporting to ensure reliable service and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain reports, collaborate with Legal and Supply Chain, and support executive-level presentations with concise insights drawn from Power BI, QlikView, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 4+ years relevant experience; 7+ years without degree (as applicable)
• Experience with data analysis, forecasting, and process improvement
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP, Oracle, or QlikView preferred
• Ability to deliver accurate work within deadlines
• Advanced Business Analyst background or certification is a plus
• Senior/lead responsibilities and portfolio oversight experience desired
• Independence and leadership in responsibilities; mentorship where applicable

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and sequence capital projects aligned with strategic, regulatory, and operational objectives
• Oversee current-year portfolio to ensure on-time, on-scope, and on-budget delivery
• Maintain accurate capital expenditure views with forecasts and variances
• Process Joint Use attachment projects to meet regulatory objectives and maximize cost recovery
• Coordinate with Legal, Supply Chain, and State Engineering for agreement packages and tracking
• Develop and maintain reports and metrics for tickets, performance, and risk
• Develop financial and operational reports using Power BI, QlikView, TOAD Data Point, and MS Office
• Support executive reporting and translate data into actionable insights
• Utilize SAP, CREWS, SPANS, and OPPM to generate reports and implement process improvements
• Provide analytical support for planning, estimating, forecasting, and decision-making
• Assist in monitoring project scope, budget, and schedule; perform ad hoc analyses
